Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone is an open-air performance venue located in Bonner Springs, Kansas. Opened in 1984 as Sandstone Amphitheater, it is a place where concert fans have been making memories for over twenty years. Audience capacity at Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone is 18,000 people, including approximately 3,100 box and reserved seats.
For the 2008 season, Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone is dramatically upgrading the fan experience. A majority of the reserved seats closest to the stage have been removed in order to make that area a general admission section. This new "up-front" general admission area is designed to let fans get closer to the performers. Learn more about the new Genearl Admission section here. Additional changes for 2008 include an upgraded VIP club, new sound and video systems, and alternative concessions.
Along with the structural changes at the venue, Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone's new Green Initiatives Project aims to make the venue more environmentally-friendly . The new program implements an on-site recycling program, reduced energy consumption policies, and partnerships with eco-friendly, artist-driven organizations. Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone is taking steps to become the only LEED Certified Amphitheater in the Midwest. Learn more about Sandstone Amphitheater's Green Initiatives project.
